Is Your Spouse’s Female Friend Becoming Something More? What to Do Before It Is Too Late
Do you have a hunch that your partner is cheating on you? I’ve been their myself. Perhaps your partner has a new “chum” and he’s spending a lot of time with her. You know that there’s something going on, but you’re torn.
On one hand you are feeling like you must trust him. He is a good man and the person you married would never cheat on you.
On the other hand though, you can tell this is heading straight towards a train wreck that is just going to leave you hurt and suffering.
What do you do? Should you trust your idealism and look the other way, just praying that things work out for the best, or should you learn more about what is occurring with them or even try and stop them from seeing each other? Here’s a bit of relationship advice to help you out.
Let me tell you, I used to think in idealism. I was convinced that it might be best to just take the high road and look the other way. I thought I could just trust my partner with his new “friend.”
After all , these things always seem to work out well on the television and in the movies right? At the end of the day, everybody just guffaws at how it was all merely a big misunderstanding and life just goes on rosy and happily.
Well, I am sorry to say, but life isn’t a scripted television show or a Hollywood production. Despite the fact that you’re a good person or you married a good man, that doesn’t suggest that things don’t change.
If you just look the other way and hope for the best, understand that you are just setting yourself up for heartbreak and discontent.
I really do not like to sound so jaded and cold hearted, but the truth is that folks cheat. It is not because they’re bad or that they are intentionally trying to hurt you. It’s because they are human. Folk mess up and can become infatuated with others. It’s a balancing act between then pull of someone new and attractive vs their integrity and dedication to their wedding vows.
Though everybody likes to think about themselves as a good person, in the moment the temptation of being with someone new can easily win out.
It may appear controlling or unromantic to dig deeper and peel back that layer of trust to see what he’s really doing with his new friend, but trust me, it’s better in the longer term.
First off, you might stop all of it before it actually leads anywhere. This alone could save you, your marriage, and your family from divorce and the agony of cheating.
Second, you can actually work out whatever issues you are having with your husband so that he doesn’t ever feel tempted to cheat in the future. Most affairs are the results of unmet needs in the relationship. Unfortunately, this topic is usually only brought up too late, after someone cheated. But you can preemptively cope with this before things get that bad and get your marriage back on track for success.

Will A Separation Save Marriage?
Once a married couple decides to separate to save their marriage, there are probably other issues in their romantic life that have led to this drastic of a solution. It’s possible that a separation save marriage but only if the couple is willing to work on their problems together. Can separation save marriage? We will see!
Both spouses must agree that during the separation they will not date anyone else. This time apart could possibly be used to reflect on the relationship and work on issues individually with a counselor. It can also be used to allow the husband and wife to think about what drew them to their spouse in the first place.
In some cases, the husband or wife may not agree with their spouse to be separated. If one party in the marriage leaves without the consent or permission of the other, this can cause even more troubles with the relationship. It is usually better to have complete agreement between both parties in the marriage before deciding to separate. It’s also a good idea to define the length of the separation including what types of visits are allowed.
If children are involved, separation may not be the easiest solution to fix the relationship. The children must be informed of the decision to separate and it will most likely cause them anxiety and stress if they do not understand the reasons for one parent moving out of the home. Counselors can be provided for the children in this type of situation, and it should be considered very carefully before involving children.
Some separations lead to an awakening for one partner or the other. The shock of losing their partner becomes a reality and it could shock the spouse into working harder to make the marriage better for both parties. Or, once they have moved away from their partner, the spouse might realize that the marriage is indeed over. These issues have to be considered before deciding to leave your spouse for a separation.
Finally, separation could have both good or bad effects on a marriage. If you are willing to take the chance and to define parameters for the length of time you and your spouse will remain apart, separation could help to save the marriage. Remember that it’s quite possible that it would have the opposite effect though.
